VirGINia is a former exploration geoscientist who broke rocks throughout northern Canada and Namibia before turning her hand to writing. As both a staff writer and freelance journalist, she has travelled on assignment to exploration sites in Canada, The United States, Nicaragua, Peru, China and South Africa. She was one of the first to break the story of the Northwest Territories diamond rush in the 1990s and later reported on Canada’s evolution into one of the world’s top diamond-producing nations. She is currently a member of the Professional Writers Association of Canada helping a variety of clients with their communication needs. To prevent repetitive strain injury, she breaks up her writing with hockey, hiking, cross-country skiing and the odd expedition back to the bush.
